New York Jets Player Mike DeVito Says Tim Tebow Should’ve Been Given A Chance ‘If Tim Tebow Played We Would’ve Win Games!’

One courageous New York Jets player has stepped forward in defense of Tim Tebow, admitting that if Rex Ryan had played Tim Tebow they would have won more games.  In an interview with New York Radio Station WFAN, Jets defensive end, Mike DeVito spoke out about the whole Tebow Debacle:

“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel bad for Tim and how it went down,” DeVito said Friday on WFAN.

During the final two weeks of the season, Tebow — the purported No. 2 backup quarterback — was twice passed over for the starting job, first by third-stringer Greg McElroy and then former starterMark Sanchez.

The Jets (6-10) were eliminated from playoff contention after Sanchez committed five turnovers in Week 15 at Tennessee. After McElroy was sacked 11 times in Week 17 and ruled out for the next game because of a concussion, Sanchez was given the reins again in the Week 17 season finale — and he promptly picked up where he left off, throwing a pick six and fumbling the ball in a 28-9 road loss to the Bills.

But DeVito believes, if given a chance, Tebow could have delivered some Ws.

“Guys just want to rally behind him,” said the defensive lineman, who will test the free-agent market this offseason. “I think if you put Tim in there, we win games. I really believe that.”
