GMC TV changes its name to UP

At the stroke of midnight as the calendar turned to Jun. 1, GMC TV began writing the latest chapter in its evolution as America’s leading television destination for uplifting entertainment when the network changed its name to UP. The fresh, new name will better communicate a clear sense of the network’s unique brand position, which has always been, and will continue to be, “Uplifting Entertainment.”

Along with the new name the network introduced a new URL, UPtv.com, and the company’s corporate name changed to UP Entertainment, LLC.

“The response to our new name has been phenomenally positive,” said Charley Humbard, president and CEO. “The beauty of UP is that it needs no explanation. Every hour of programming on UP is uplifting, inspiring and entertaining for the whole family. It captures the essence of our brand – uplifting entertainment – and will lend itself to many interesting and fun creative executions.”

Starting Jun. 1, viewers continued to see the great programming they have come to love along with a new logo and new on-air look. The introduction of UP will be supported with on-air image and cross-channel spots, a multi-platform marketing initiative and the launch of the on-air “Summer UP” campaign.

UP is the network’s most extensive step in the evolution of the brand since the network launched in 2004 as the Gospel Music Channel, which subsequently evolved to be known as GMC TV: “Uplifting Entertainment.” The UP concept was conceived as an upbeat, positive and playful way to communicate the network’s unique brand promise and position as the destination for the best in family friendly “Uplifting Entertainment.”

Women of Faith offers new level of worship and biblical depth at 2013 live events

The nation’s largest gathering of Christian women, Women of Faith, is taking its two-day live events to a new level this year with an expanded list of biblical Christian speakers, an emphasis on deeper worship with the addition of and Third Day, and a new focus on bringing scriptural depth to modern life applications.

The 2013 tour theme, ‘Believe God Can Do Anything,’ was created to inspire women to let go of the pain, planning and stress by handing their lives over to the only One who can make anything possible, God.

Multiple studies show that women experience greater levels of stress than men on average, including work, home life, major life events, and social and economic concerns, which, if not managed, can lead to post traumatic stress disorder, mental disorders, depression and other health problems.

“This year’s theme was created to refocus the minds of women, reminding them that we are not in control, God is, and through Him we can find peace, healing and restoration,” said Barry Walsh, VP of creative at Women of Faith.

The Believe God Can Do Anything tour will make stops in 24 cities across the U.S. starting August 2 in Oklahoma City, OK, and wrapping up in Hartford, CT, on Nov. 1. Each event runs a day and a half and includes a variety of speakers, such as Sheila Walsh, Christine Caine, Lisa Harper, Max Lucado, and Priscilla Shirer. Worship music will be led by Gateway Worship, home church of Kari Jobe and well-known worship songs such as “Revelation Song” and “Stay Amazed.”

Women of Faith is committed to helping woman plug into the local church. This year it has invited more local pastors than ever before to the speaking platform as a way to better help grow and develop ongoing relationships between the women who attend its events and the local church.

Women of Faith has also partnered with producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett to feature their series THE BIBLE, whose success made History Channel the top cable network, at this year’s events. Women of Faith will incorporate a special collection of film footage from
“The Bible” that will be woven throughout the event to bring a fresh creative element to the program.

Dara Maclean To Release Sophomore Album, Wanted, September 24

Fervent Records’ soulful vocalist Dara Maclean is scheduled to release her sophomore album, Wanted, on September 24. The album’s title track and lead single grabbed early attention jumping seven spots at radio to No. 30 on NCA chart this past week. Produced by Paul Mabury (All Sons & Daughters, Hillsong, Meredith Andrews), Wanted is the eagerly-awaited follow-up to Maclean’s debut album, You Got My Attention, which entered the iTunes Christian & Gospel Albums chart at No. 1 in 2011 and garnered her a spot as one of their “New Artists to Watch.”

For Maclean, both a passionate artist and advocate for the International Justice Mission, an organization that is pioneering the fight against human trafficking, this album is much more than just a compilation of songs. “This album is for those broken, the lost and the ones in need of rescue. It’s for me and it’s for them, whether ‘they’ are next door or half way across the world. This record is a reminder that through God’s grace and redemption, He has made us good enough, He sees us as ‘blameless.’ We’ve been forgiven and we can find the peace, satisfaction and rest we’re looking for in Him,” said Maclean. “This record is my mouthpiece to raise the volume of the already screaming heartbeat of the Father, crying ‘Set My People Free.’ When life hits in the hardest ways, and you need peace and you need an answer, let’s take Him at His word and together learn about truth, discover sustaining hope and put all of our trust in the only answer, God.”

“She genuinely cares for people and has a story to tell; she genuinely wants to see people changed,” said Mabury. “I heard a girl singing at the beginning…now I hear a woman singing.”

Sonically, Wanted reveals Maclean’s musical upbringing and love for powerful, soul-steeped vocalists from Etta James to Lauryn Hill.  This influence can be seen throughout the album that infuses her soaring vocals with modern pop and soul melodies thanks to the help of multi-talented producer Mabury. “Paul knows the world of worship and he’s a songwriter, a producer and one of the best drummers that I’ve heard,” said Maclean. “He is also extremely well-versed in the music that moves me. He has this backbone of soul and took the time to ‘get me’ and wanted to make music that was true to that.”

During the past two years Maclean, who embraces song writing equally as much as being a vocalist, wrote heavily in preparation for this album. She co-wrote each of the 12 tracks on Wantedand loved getting to write with some of her favorites including Paul Mabury, Jason Ingram (Brandon Heath, Bebo Norman), Dave Barnes (Blake Shelton, Bebo Norman) and Cindy Morgan (Amy Grant, Mark Schultz).

About Dara Maclean:

Powerful vocalist and songwriter Dara Maclean first sparked the music industry’s interest with her 2011 debut, You Got My Attention. The LP reached the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Christian Albums chart, and album tracks “Suitcases” and “Free” each hit the Top 20 on Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. “Suitcases” appeared on the 2012 installment of WOW Hits, celebrating Christian radio’s biggest songs, and You Got My Attentioncloser “Home” was included in The Bible: Music Inspired By The Epic Mini-Series, a companion to the smash History Channel series. The Texas-bred singer-songwriter earned a New Artist of the Year nomination in the 43rd Annual GMA Dove Awards, and spent nearly two years straight on the road with some of Christian music’s biggest names, including Casting Crowns and Newsong, and on major tours including Winter Jam and the KLOVE Acoustic Christmas Tour. Maclean has earned high critical praise throughout, NewReleaseTuesday including her among its Top 10 New Female Christian Singers in 2012, noting that “Dara displays the strongest vocals I’ve heard in years.” Maclean is also passionate about raising awareness and bringing an end to human trafficking and is an advocate for the International Justice Mission.

After signing to Word Records in 2012, they retreated to the mountains of Washington state to record their powerful debut, produced by Seth Mosley (Newsboys) along with Ben Glover (for King & Country) and David Garcia (TobyMac).
