Newsboys To Release New Fist-Pumping Foot-Stomping Album, Restart, September 10

 

 

 

 

Four-time GRAMMY®-nominated band Newsboys plans to “take the music further” than ever before with their new album, Restart, set to hit stores on September 10. Boasting a discography of 16 records and over eight million albums sold, Restart will be the third studio album with Michael Tait at the helm and combines the pop, worship and rock that fans embraced from the first two albums, Born Again and God’s Not Dead. In the nearly four years since Tait joined the band, over 650,000 records have been sold, while five singles have attained No. 1 status on the radio charts.

 

Musically, the Newsboys are driven to recast themselves with the pop-spirited new album and have already proven to be successful as their first single “Live With Abandon” reached No. 20 on the National Christian Audience chart this week. The single has also broken into the Top 10 at Christian Hot AC at No. 6.

“At the start of this record two years ago, we knew we’d be taking great risks, but people will be excited about this album because we’ve pushed the music and taken it further than we’ve ever taken it before,” says front man Michael Tait. “I have not felt this way about anything I’ve been involved in musically since Jesus Freak.”

Jon Acuff Guest Post: Life Lessons From a Burrito

 

I used to hate Chipotle.

The idea of paying for chips felt so counter to everything a great Mexican restaurant stood for.

But in the last few years, I’ve learned how awesome Chipotle actually is.

I think their food is fresh, fast and delicious.

I’m a big fan.

That’s why I was excited when I saw their new promotion.

Right now, you can win burritos for 20 years!

The ad shows a treasure chest full of gold-plated burritos.

That is awesome and actually ends up being a great lesson in perceived value.

Do you know what 20 years of burritos is actually worth?

$9,300.

That’s not a ton of money for a company who had a net—not gross—income of $278 million in 2012 to give away as a grand prize. In fact, on average, Chipotle makes $9 per person and serves 300 people an hour. So in less than four hours they have made that amount of money. They actually serve approximately 750,000 customers every day. Granted, there are a ton of expenses, but at the end of the day, it’s a small prize.

Why did Chipotle do it then?

Because sometimes perceived value matters more than real value.

When people see a treasure chest of gold burritos they don’t think, I bet after taxes that represents a total of about $5,000. They made $278 million and they’re giving me $5,000. Pretty amazing!

No, people see this and think about free burritos (one a week) for 20 years! That has a much bigger perceived value than real value. And that’s key for you to remember any time you launch a dream that requires fans, friends or shoppers. And Chipotle actually has real value because the total amount of prizes they are giving away is around $400,000.

The big win, however—the best thing you can do—is to combine perceived value with real value.

The Sonflowerz Announce Kickstarter Campaign In Support Of New Music, Book and Tour

The Sonflowerz, known for their worshipful and inspiring pop songs, including “My Adoration” and “By Faith,” have launched a Kickstarter campaign in support of a new EP as well as a devotional book and a ministry-focused, interactive tour for tween and teen-aged girls.
The Colorado-based sisters, Elissa Leander Tipps and Becca Leander Nicholson, have been ministering together since their own teen years when given the opportunity by their church to share a song they had written. Fast forward 13 years, countless concerts and six albums, and the duo find themselves coming full circle with hearts focused on ministering to young girls.
“From that first moment of sharing our songs, we’ve had a desire to use music as a tool to be a voice to and for young women,” explains Elissa. “We said ‘yes’ to God and continued to write, sing and speak where He led, often finding ourselves in places we never imagined – from a small town near Southhampton, England to Lifeway’s You And Your Girl conferences that drew thousands of moms and daughters from around the U.S.”
Launching the The Sonflowerz Kickstarter Campaign, Elissa and Becca hope to engage their fans of all ages in being part of the development of their new 6-song EP Love Walked In, which is set to release September 10. The campaign will also help fund a 30-day devotional book titled “Made To Shine,” which was inspired by conversations with young girls and named after a song written for a victim of bullying. Along with the EP and book, the duo will embark on a ministry-focused tour of Made to Shine events for girls ages 10-18.
For The Sonflowerz, writing songs is just the beginning. “Girls fight against all kinds of obstacles in our culture,” says Becca. “Peer pressure alone brings an onslaught of identity crisis, self-hatred, depression and loneliness. Add in the fatherless factor, which nearly one-third of kids in the U.S. live with, and you have a desperate generation of girls in need of love.”
“So at the events, we will spend time speaking from the book and performing songs from our new recording,” adds Elissa. “We’ll break through peer pressure, common lies they believe, answer their questions and reveal to them their true identity as daughters of God… each song, every word and all that we do is to point them to Jesus. Hopefully our friends will want to come alongside and be a part of it.”
